Hyundai Motor Company has received two major accolades at Indonesia’s most prestigious corporate social responsibility (CSR) awards ceremony.

According to industry sources on the 13th, Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (HMMI), the company’s local subsidiary, was recognized at the Top CSR Awards 2025, held in Jakarta on June 11 (local time). HMMI won in the corporate category, while Bongkyu Lee, President of HMMI, was named Top Leader on CSR Commitment 2025.

The awards acknowledge that HMMI’s CSR efforts are not one-off initiatives, but part of a sustainable system aligned with the company’s broader business strategy. The organizing committee praised Hyundai for adhering to the international CSR standard ISO 26000, focusing on creating shared value (CSV) with local communities, and supporting Indonesia’s national development vision, Asta Cita. Asta Cita outlines long-term goals such as energy independence and the creation of a high-value technology ecosystem.

Under its global CSR campaign CONTINUE, HMMI promotes initiatives across three pillars: Earth (environment), Hope (education), and Local Citizen (community). In the environmental sector, Hyundai has established a Waste Recycling Center near Jakarta to support resource circulation education. In the education sector, the company operates the Hyundai Academy Course at vocational schools (SMKs) and training institutes, providing practical, hands-on education. In the community sector, Hyundai supports inclusive programs for marginalized groups, including people with disabilities, contributing to social integration.

Hyundai stated that it will continue advancing CSR activities to promote sustainability and community development. The company aims to enhance its brand image and drive sales growth through its eco-friendly, community-focused strategy.

The HMMI plant began commercial operations in 2021 and currently has an annual production capacity of 150,000 units, with plans to increase capacity to 250,000 units in the future.

President Bongkyu Lee stated, “This award is the result of our employees’ continuous efforts to place CSR at the core of our corporate strategy,” adding, “We aim to become an ‘eco-technology company’ that creates sustainable value and makes a positive impact on Indonesian society.”
