Jeongyeon of K-pop group TWICE shared new photos with fans on February 24 local time, showing a noticeably slimmer appearance following years of health challenges linked to medical treatment.
Jeongyeon posted several photos on social media with the caption “TWICE with Jimmy Fallon,” referencing the group’s appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
The images highlight the singer’s sharper jawline and smaller facial profile, drawing attention from fans who have followed her health journey in recent years.
Jeongyeon previously revealed that she experienced significant weight fluctuations after undergoing surgery in 2020 to treat a herniated cervical disc. During treatment, she took steroid medication, which can cause side effects including increased appetite and swelling.
Steroid-related appetite stimulation can lead to increased food intake and fluid retention, often resulting in rapid weight gain and facial swelling.
Despite the physical changes, Jeongyeon continued preparing for her return to the stage. She also temporarily suspended group activities multiple times due to health issues, including panic disorder.
In a past interview, the singer reflected on the period when she was unable to participate fully in group promotions.
“Sometimes I regret not overcoming it sooner,” she said. “But I’m proud of myself for getting back up.”
People close to the group said Jeongyeon continued practicing consistently behind the scenes as she prepared to return to performing.
She has also reportedly focused on long-term recovery, combining ongoing treatment with regular exercise such as tennis and surfing.
Jeongyeon has gradually resumed public appearances and performances and is now actively promoting again as a member of TWICE.
