Kia has surpassed one million electric vehicle (EV) charging points across Europe, marking a major milestone in its effort to strengthen its EV ecosystem and improve customer convenience in the region.
The automaker announced that its Kia Charge network — a unified public charging service — now provides access to more than one million charging stations across 27 European countries. The achievement underscores Kia’s growing focus on expanding its EV infrastructure as part of its long-term strategy for sustainable mobility.
Industry observers say the milestone reflects Kia’s steady progress in building a seamless charging ecosystem around its dedicated EV lineup, which includes the EV3, EV4, EV5, EV6, EV9, and PV5 models. Marc Hedrich, President of Kia Europe, said the expansion demonstrates the company’s commitment to providing customers with a complete and accessible charging ecosystem.
“Reaching one million charging points in Europe represents a tangible step toward fulfilling our promise to deliver a fully integrated charging network,” Hedrich said. “This milestone will accelerate the shift toward sustainable mobility and further drive EV adoption across Europe.”
The Kia Charge platform integrates AC, DC, and ultra-fast charging infrastructure through partnerships with leading European charge point operators. Notably, 100% of the electricity supplied through the network is sourced from renewable energy, reinforcing Kia’s sustainability credentials. A key partnership with Ionity, Europe’s ultra-fast charging network, currently gives Kia drivers access to around 5,000 high-power stations, with plans to expand that number to 13,000 by 2030.
Through the newly unified Kia App, users can locate charging stations, manage charging sessions, choose subscription plans, and plan long-distance routes all in one interface. The integrated EV navigation system highlights charging points along a route and allows drivers to set target battery levels for each stop, helping prevent range anxiety during trips.
Analysts say Kia’s rapid charging network expansion represents more than infrastructure growth — it’s a strategic move to strengthen brand loyalty and market share in Europe’s increasingly competitive EV sector. “Kia Charge is evolving into more than just a charging platform,” said one industry analyst. “It’s becoming a central hub for Europe’s renewable energy and mobility ecosystem.
By expanding partnerships and developing a 100% green charging network, Kia is positioning itself as a serious contender in the region’s EV leadership race.” With this milestone, Kia continues to establish itself as a leading player in the European EV landscape — delivering not only vehicles, but also the infrastructure and ecosystem that power them.
