BTS returned to the summit of the U.S. music charts after nearly four years, as its new single “Swim” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, underscoring the group’s enduring global influence.
Billboard said the track marks BTS’s seventh No. 1 hit on the Hot 100. Since becoming the first K-pop act to top the chart with “Dynamite” in 2020, the group has repeatedly returned to No. 1 with releases including “Savage Love,” “Life Goes On,” “Butter,” “Permission to Dance,” and “My Universe.”
Across those songs, BTS has now spent a combined 18 weeks at No. 1.
The group’s seven chart-topping singles place it among the most successful acts in Hot 100 history. Since the chart’s launch in August 1958, The Beatles hold the record with 20 No. 1 hits, followed by The Supremes with 12, the Bee Gees with 9, and The Rolling Stones with 8. BTS ranks fifth among groups by total No. 1 songs.
Billboard also noted that “Swim” is the first No. 1 song in the chart’s history to include the word “swim” in its title.
The Hot 100 ranks the most popular songs in the U.S. using a blend of streaming, radio airplay, and sales data. During the latest tracking period, “Swim” drew 15.3 million streams, 15.3 million radio audience impressions, and 154,000 in combined digital and physical sales.
The song is the 1,190th No. 1 in the chart’s history and the 88th to debut at the top.
“Swim” also placed No. 2 on the Streaming Songs chart, No. 18 on Radio Songs, and No. 1 on Digital Song Sales.
BTS also topped the Billboard 200 with its fifth studio album “Arirang,” completing a sweep of the two main U.S. charts. The group recently reached No. 1 on the U.K. Official Albums Chart and No. 2 on the Singles Chart, further highlighting its global reach.
BTS remains among a small group of Korean acts to top the Hot 100, alongside members Jimin and Jung Kook in their solo careers.
