In a candid Weverse livestream on December 7, BTS leader RM disclosed that he had seriously contemplated disbanding the group or suspending its activities during their extended hiatus. Despite this period of internal reflection and uncertainty about the future, RM confirmed that the global superstars are now fully engaged in preparing for a highly anticipated comeback.
The group’s hiatus was necessitated by South Korea’s mandatory military service, which all seven members have now completed. RM shared that, after much deliberation, the members ultimately chose to continue their journey together, motivated by their strong bond and deep gratitude toward their fans.
With their next album nearly finished and daily rehearsals and content production actively underway, RM emphasized that the focus is now squarely on their return. He apologized for the prolonged wait but assured that preparations are accelerating, with the group dedicated to rehearsing and filming throughout December to ensure a fully prepared and polished comeback.
While RM expressed a desire to resume activities sooner, he noted that certain undisclosed reasons influenced the timing, leading to their planned return in 2025. Their last full-group concert was held in October 2022, making the upcoming reunion their first in over three years.
RM also reflected on the personal and artistic growth the members experienced during their time away from the spotlight, suggesting that these lived experiences will significantly influence the music and message of their forthcoming chapter.
