K-pop supergroup BTS has confirmed March 20, 2026, as the release date for its long-awaited comeback, marking the group’s first full-member album in nearly four years.
The return comes approximately three years and nine months after BTS last released a full-group project, the anthology album Proof in June 2022.
The comeback date was first hinted at through handwritten letters sent to members of BTS’ official fan club, ARMY. In the New Year message, the group included the handwritten date “2026.03.20,” fueling speculation among fans. BigHit Music, BTS’ agency, formally confirmed the comeback timeline in a press release on Thursday.
In the letters, each member shared personal messages expressing gratitude and anticipation. Leader RM wrote that he had been “eagerly waiting more than anyone,” while Jin thanked fans for their patience. Other members echoed the sentiment, promising new memories and expressing excitement about finally reuniting with fans.
The handwritten letters were provided as a special gift to fans who have maintained paid Weverse memberships over the past three years. Fans who did not receive physical copies will be able to view the same messages online later this month, according to the agency.
BTS also welcomed the new year with a live broadcast on December 31, appearing together as a full group and reaffirming their commitment to a successful return. During the livestream, the members said they hoped for a smooth comeback and strong performance for the upcoming album.
BigHit Music added that the new release will be followed by a large-scale world tour, though specific details regarding the album and tour schedule have not yet been disclosed. Further information is expected to be announced through official channels in the coming weeks.
The announcement marks a major moment for the global music industry, as BTS’ return is widely expected to drive significant fan engagement, streaming activity and concert demand worldwide.
