Burger King’s South Korean unit is launching a limited-time promotion offering its signature Whopper at a deep discount, using an April Fools’ Day-themed campaign to draw in customers.

The promotion is built around a fictional “ordering mistake” by a store manager who allegedly ordered too many burger buns. The campaign features playful messaging in stores and online, including mock appeals suggesting excess inventory and urging customers to take advantage of the discounted offer.

The strategy reflects a broader “fun-consumer” marketing trend, in which brands incorporate humor and storytelling to enhance customer engagement and strengthen brand affinity.

The promotion will run from March 30 through April 3. During the period, the Whopper and Bulgogi Whopper will be priced at about $2.90, roughly 47% below regular prices, while the Cheese Whopper will be offered for approximately $3.35. Discounts will also extend to combo meals and large-size set options.

Purchases will be limited to five items per customer to allow wider participation.

Burger King Korea said the campaign is intended to turn April Fools’ Day into a shared consumer event, combining humor with tangible value. The promotion will be available at participating locations nationwide, excluding some stores.
